Seven upper level French students went to Paris, France during spring break to visit the many places they had learned about in French class.  While in France, the students had many opportunities to speak French and interact with the French people.

Highlights of the trip included

  • cruising down the Seine River in a “bateau mouche”
  • viewing the city of Paris from the top of the Eiffel Tower and from the steps of Sacre Coeur
  • seeing famous works of art at the Louvre Museum and the Orsay Museum
  • marveling at the beauty of the Opera House
  • strolling down the Champs-Elysées
  • climbing the spiral staircases to the top of the Arc de Triomphe and Notre Dame Cathedral
  • riding the métro as well as traveling by train.

Opportunities to rub shoulders with French people occurred during a visit to a French high school, dinner with a French family, and worshiping at the Hillsong Church.

Outside Paris, the students visited Versailles where they were amazed by the lavish lifestyles of the French kings.  A second excursion was to the town of Chartres known for its 12th century cathedral.  Not only were the students awed by the beauty of the cathedral’s blue windows, but they were also enthralled with the narrow, winding streets of the old town of Chartres.
