Lancers Men's Basketball Making Waves

The Cambridge Christian School men's basketball team continued to build upon the great season they are having by defeating rival Bayshore Christian last night.

Actually, "great" is an understatement.  The Lancers are having one of their best seasons ever.  This past week, the team earned its first state ranking in school history when it made the Florida Association of Basketball Coaches Class 2A poll at No. 10.

The district tournament starts soon, and the Lancers can lock up a top seed with a win against Academy at the Lakes next Friday.  If you haven't had a chance to watch this exciting team, you have a number of chances coming up.  This Friday, the Lancers are at home against Edison, and as mentioned before they are home against Academy at the Lakes next Friday, January 20th.  Click here to RSVP on Facebook!  You can also click here to read a write up of the big win over Bayshore that was published in the Tampa Tribune.

We hope to see you at the games!  Go Lancers!

2011 Fall Sports Recap

We had no shortage of excitement during the Fall 2011 edition of Cambridge Christian athletics.  Our Varsity football team battled to a 6-4 record in a very competitive district.  Daniel Hamiltion, Philip Johnson, Robbie Robertson, and Lloyd Woods were each Honorable Mentions for the St. Pete Times' All-Hillsborough County football team.  Our Middle School team compiled an impressive 6-1-1 record in 2011.  Congratulations to Coach Dare, the coaching staff, and the players for an excellent season.  The future is bright for Cambridge Christian School football!

Our Varsity volleyball team had a great season, capped by winning the district 2A championship and a deep run in the state playoffs. Seniors Olivia Yeager and Caitlin Carr were named 2nd Team All-Hillsborough County and Honorable Mention, respectively.  Our Junior Varsity and Middle School teams had great seasons, too!

Our 2011 Cross Country and Golf teams performed with excellence, as well.  We're very proud of all of our student-athletes and the way they represent our school.  Be sure to join us at as many Spring 2012 athletic events as you can!

Holiday Athletics Update

Classes may be out for Christmas, but our student-athletes have been busy competing this week!

We're excited to announce that the Varsity Men's Basketball team won the Lakeland Christian School Holiday Tournament today.  This is the first time that the Lancers have won this tournament!  Congratulations to Coach Bowen and the players, who get a well-deserved break at 8-2 and 4-0 in conference play.

After Christmas, the Lancers Men and Women's Varsity Soccer teams will take part in the Seffner Christian Academy Holiday Tournament. The Men's team will enter the tournament with a 10-3 record, and the Women's team is at 9-3-1.  Both teams are off to a great start and would love your support, so if you have some free time during your Christmas holiday, come out and cheer on the Lancers!  Click here to see the Men's schedule and click here for the Women's schedule.

Go Lancers!

Cambridge Christian Athletics Receive Local and National Recognition

Last week was very exciting for our athletics program as our softball team was recognized by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association for having the nation's best cumulative GPA among high schools!  Led by Coach Kevin Hickinbotham, the Lady Lancers earned top honors with a 4.297 weighted GPA.  14 members of the Lady Lancers softball team were named High School All-America Scholar Athletes by the NFCA for maitaining a GPA of 3.5 or higher:

Katie Hawley   Lindsey Woods
Rachael Bode   Hannah Bentley
Katie Quintana   Sarah Longhta
Katie Eldridge   Kate Pivacek
Caitlin Carr   Ashleigh Munro
Taylor Gulnick   Spenser Tonarelli
Alea White   Theresa Lamelas

Adding to the excitement, Coach Bob Dare was named "Coach of the Week" by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers!  This is the second year in a row that Coach Dare has received this honor, which included a tour of the Bucs' state-of-the-art training facility, One Buccaneer Place, a personalized football, and a $1000 donation to the Cambridge Christian School football team.  Coach Dare, along with his wife, took a few lucky players with him to share in the experience.

We're very proud of our student athletes and coaches as they continue to honor the Lord with their gifts and abilities.  We're also proud of how they represent our school nationally and in the local community.  Go Lancers!
