College Counseling at Cambridge Christian

As college admissions become increasingly more competitive, it is imperative that students and parents receive the most up-to-date and accurate information concerning the admissions process.  The college advising program at Cambridge Christian School is designed to address the individual needs of students and families and to assist each family to better understand the process as well as to help in the finding of colleges that best serve the academic, social and financial needs of the family.

The college counseling program begins in the ninth grade as students are advised on the types of courses that will best accommodate the student’s academic needs.  This advising process continues throughout the student’s high school career.

Students are encouraged to meet with the college advisor to discuss college options at anytime during their school experience.  In an attempt to provide the most accurate and current information there are several information nights which are provided for families at various grade levels. There is also a communication system that provides families with pertinent information on the college process.

Realizing that the college admission process is a cumulative one, the college advising process begins in earnest in the eleventh grade.  Students are asked to meet with the advisor in order to begin prioritizing the student’s needs and interests.  Students will be given information concerning testing and academic course requirements, advice on the application process, and an overall evaluation of the student’s entire background and how that information will be viewed by colleges.

Cambridge Christian School believes that finding the right “fit” for college is extremely important.  As a college preparatory school it is assumed that all Cambridge Christian students will be attending college.  As the process is uniquely personal, students are provided the opportunity to investigate all of their available options.   As a result the college advising process focuses on helping students find the school that will best suit their needs.
